Please let us hear more about yourself and tell us about what you do.

I’m a UK based artist/illustrator, living in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. I draw and paint what visually inspires me. My current inspiration is drawn from home interiors and decor, and the bulk of my recent work has been focused on painting rooms in people’s homes. I’m also working on a series of female portrait paintings, which combine fashion, pets and interiors. I like to recreate an image that offers plenty of intricate details.

Could you explain more about how being a woman has affected your career?

For me, I’ve found the wider community of female artists very supportive. The female artist pool is very diverse and vibrant, both locally and online. Local female artists have made me aware of opportunities, while online I have been able to get invaluable and constructive feedback. I think it’s important for female artists to stay connected!

Can you name some other female (artist) that inspires you and explain why they do so?

So many female artists inspire and motivate me. I love the works of Molley May, her drawings are so pure and playful. I discovered Beth Rodways intricate interior and figure drawings last year and I fell in love. Her use of only one color is so elegant and mature. Recently, I’ve been loving following the classical interior works of Bertille de Lestrade.

What has been the most challenging aspect of being a female artist?

Being a neuroatypical female artist, I found it challenging to promote myself at first. Artists are expected to put themselves out there and approach people confidently, which is something I found difficult. However, I’m now starting to find my place and feel more at home within the female art world. I’m grateful to have discovered many female artists on social media, that have inspired me to find my own aesthetic and voice, and also develop my personal practice. I’ve grown more honest and confident, which hopefully shines through my artwork.

If you could own one piece of art, what would it be and why?

Dance in the City by Pierre Auguste Renoir. Any of Renoir’s paintings to be honest .
